The Call Announcement feature helps you identify calls coming to your Unitel Voice phone number, instead of your personal number. When you receive an inbound call, and you select "accept," you will hear an automated message like this:
“This is a call for extension [extension number]. To accept, press 1. To send to voicemail, press 2. To hear the phone number, press 3.”
There are two different ways to enable Announced Calls:
- Option 1
- Click Extensions tab in the left-navigation.
- Click ‘unannounced’ to change it to ‘announced’.
- Option 2
- Click ‘edit’ on the extension you want to update.
- Select ‘edit’ on the forwarding number you wish to adjust.
- Click ‘edit’ on the extension you want to update.
- Check the option ‘Calls will be announced when you pick up’.
- Click ‘save’
- Then ‘save and close’.
Troubleshooting
If calls drop after pressing 1 to accept, your ring time may not be long enough. For example, if your phone rings for 15 seconds, but you pick up and listen to the announcement, the call might disconnect before you select an option. We recommend setting the "Ring For" field to 60 seconds when using the Call Announcement feature.
To update the ring time:
- Click ‘edit’ on the extension you want to modify.
- Select ‘edit’ on the forwarding number.
- Update the “Ring For” field.
- Click ‘save’
- Click ‘save and close’ when finished.

Important Note:
We do not recommend using the Call Announcement feature with the Unitel or Unitel Office mobile apps, as it may cause calls to route incorrectly or display inaccurate information for inbound calls.
